Pick up day!, Sunday Church

This morning I work up at 7:30am.
George woke me up to eat breakfast (cereal and eggs). The church is open at 10am.
We have time to walk over to Kwik trip to get some soda and snack for potluck dinner with host family this evening. The weather was very warm. I think it's 11c. After that we had some hot cocoa and then we went to the church near the school. It took about an hour in the church.

Dada thought she was gonna have her first period because she has stomachache that she never has before but I think she just got a little stress from uncomfortable bathroom and cold weather. She is still happy and active.

Pooh has a bruise on his face. I told him to put Vaselin(petroleum oil) on it.
He said he has Vaselin but when he shows me. It's just body lotion names Vaselin.
I can't find a new one for him so he uses mine for today.

Carrot is very understanding about we're taking her electronics.
I think the good thing in Carrot is she has the right attitude.
She was worry that her mom might want to contact her.
We told her she can uses her host family computer.
Her host family house and George's parent house are close to each other. We can walk there.
Carrot said she will be Skyann best friend and walk to George's house to get iPhone back with proud. Hahaha

We clean up the room and pack everything. We're ready to go.
It was so funny watching the girls move their mattress. They're so weak hahaha.
Win and Pooh have to help out eventually.

(Kay doesn't host anyone this year but she's the biggest help finding host family)
At 3 pm. all host families came with food and sweet.
They all came on time. I bet they're excited to see the kids too.

The kids did very well. They talked to their host family and spend the evening with them.
Win played football with his host brother and Joey Larson. Carrot was really good playing basketball with her host sisters. I bet taking her phone motivated her to try best. Fah chatted with her host mom, dad and sister. Pooh played basketball with his host brother and talk to him about the game he likes. They're so cute.
Didi came last year so she has no problem adjusting to her host family.

(Pooh try to find a new way to touch his bruise)

(Carrot is being herself with her host sister)

(They're playing Sorry broad game)

(Win shows his host brother something on his phone)

(Fah is talking to her host family)

(Dada is joining conversation with Fah's family)
We ate dinner together. I cooked can fish with spicy chili. Thai kids love it!
I heard Japan told his friend that he never gets enough of it. Fah kept saying I want more!
And Jean, Thai student who study here, he ate a lot.
It's amazing how simple cheap food in Thailand can be so need here. Hahahha
They miss Thai food.

Around 5 pm. All the host families took the kids back home in the same time.
George and I were so busy at that time. Everything was so fast and just 15 minutes later everybody was gone. The school was quiet. No kids....Ohhhhhhh Yayyyyyyy hahahahha.
I feel quiet for 5 minutes and start to enjoy my no-kids time! hahahahhaha.
I would be bore without scolding one of them. brrrrr

We didn't forget to suggest the host families to keep the electronics at the kitchen table and tell us if it's a problem. Also I told Pooh's host family about his bruise. George asked one of the host who is a nurse and she suggest some good cream for him. I hope he will get better soon. Maybe we have to tie his hands so he doesn't touch it which is the real problem.

Carrot's host mom drove her back to us because Carrot forget her jacket.
That's what I thought would happen!

After everybody leaves, George comes to me and talks about what's a great thing we did.
We bring such good people into one place. They're here, in the same room talking and getting to know each other. We connect 2 great families from different side of the world.George almost makes me cry when he is talking like that because I can feel it too. I think I feel proud and happy to meet such a great people. I have to thank George for get me into this. <3

Beerntsen Ice Cream, Pancake Breakfast

Yesterday we went to get ice-cream at Beerntsen in Manitowoc after dinner.
We were in town late and the library was closed.
We stopped the van and let the kids use public internet on the main street for half hour.

There're a lot of bunny chocolate in Beerntsen because Easter is coming.
This place has a good chocolate and a great ice cream.
They use marchmellow instead of wipcream. I love it.
I order banana sprit. 3 scoops of ice cream and banana! yummm

The kids ordered one menu each. It's a big ice cream. Japan couldn't finished it at all.
Pooh told us that while we're waiting for ice-cream, Japan bought chocolate and ate it.
He made himself full.

Ice cream made all of us feel cold. After we're full, we ran fast to the van.
George didn't open the lock immediately just to teasing us.

I was so sleepy on the way back. It was only 10 pm.
I think I still have jet lag.

This morning we woke up at 6:30am. The church has Pancake Breakfast.
It's the day that people come to the church to help making pancake, sausages, eggs, donuts.
Then sale the ticket to people in their church commumity. Most of people come because they want to donate money to the church.

George and I told the kids to help out since we stay in their place we should do something to help.
They need a lot of push to stay around and looking to help people.
I have to point out this and that for them.

Finally, they got the drink job. They have to serve people who already got the food and sit down at the table. They have ask people "What do you like for drink?"
They also have to ask when they see somebody out of drink "Do you want some more /milk/juice" and clean up the table after people finish eating.
Dada, Fah and Pooh did it very well. Fah was really serious with her duty. She didn't let any customer out of her sight. Pooh is such a polite boy. He has such a good service mind.
It's cute to see him walking around, asking people what they need, do they need anything else and then stop by to get empty dish to the tash can.

Everything went fine until I sat to eat breakfast. There's a lady came talk to me about her friends in Thailand. And I realized that nobody was in the Pancake area anymore.
So I got up and came find them in the hall way and bedroom, playing on their phone.
I gave them another push. I told them to help and stay in the area until 11 am.
They did pretty well after that but when George came back from dropping June at her host family's house in town.
The kids were disappear again! This time only Carrot and Didi. George couldn't find them at first.
But I have a good assitant telling me everything.

George got them out from hiding under the table in the bedroom.
They came back to help again but George took Carrot's phone away.
Just like we mention before, sometime the phone or iPad need to go.

Around noon, The kids made gifts for schools and host families. They also made cards for each gifts.
George slept in the afternoon for 3 hours. He worked late last night and woke up too early.

After finished with the gift, the kids had free time all day. We tried to make them go outside because today's weather was very warm. They didnt' go anywhere until In's host family from last year visit us.

In met her ex-host family and all the siblings.
They went to play in the playground outside. They played tag and freezed.
I can see that they had a lot of fun playing together. Win kept saying the girls run so slow.
I think all the Thai kids are best friends now.

George cooked pasta for dinner. I was so hungry, also the kids.
In's host family picked her up early. So In goes home with her host family today.
We have only 7 kids left(June and In are gone)

About Carrot's phone and iPad, we think we're going to keep it with us for a couple days after she goes with her host family.

It's not about Carrot using it too much but more like using it in the wrong time.
The main concern is she really attached to June and Didi. At the roller skate she didn't try to talk or spend time with her host family at all. She didn't talk to any American at Divine Savior School either. Clearly Carrot doesn't feel the need of making friends when Didi and June are around.
We don't want Carrot to use internet at her host family house chatting in Thai with June and Didi all day without trying to make friend with her host sibling. It's most likely to happen from our point of view.

Today after we took her phone, she finds things to do. She's bored so she draws, she plays outside.
We think she did great without her phone.

This is the best way to help her out to force herself to talk and make new friends instead of talking with Didi and June all times. This is good for Carrot and 3 hosts families. (Carrot, June and Didi' host family)
So for this week, Carrot will use her host family computer or the school's computer to update her blog and talk to her family. If she does well, we'll discuss about giving her phone back again later.

To remind all the parents again, tomorrow all the kids will be separate to each family.
This is the time that homesickness will come in. Be prepare!  Don't be surprise if your child call with tear.
If you have any concern, please call us.
George and I will have internet immediately after send all the kids to their host family.
It'd be so easy to contact us.

Can't wait to see how it goes!

Oh I forget to tell the funniest story.
Carrot and Didi ran into the building and scream my name " P'patttt P'pattttttt" so laud.
I thought there's fire somewhere or something. But they ran to me and

Carrot and Didi say "P'Pat, Micheal ( a boy they like) send Win an email that "he needs some fans" Akkkkkk he likes us. He wants girlfriends! He is coming to choose one of us"
Me : But FANS doesn't mean FAN in Thai so it doesn't mean girlfriends but it means fan clubs
Carrot and Didi say " Oh really"
Carrot "Oh that's why he put "s" after the word "fan" I thought he wants a lot of girlfriends."
Carrot and Didi "Sadddddd"

Hahahahahahahaha They're too funny sometimes.

Taco Night, Divine Savior School Visit

Last night we had dinner at home. George made Tacos for us. It's good.
We went to bed right away after dinner. George went outside to do some internet work.
I get the kids to bed. June Didi and Carrot are always the last for everything.
Yesterday was the boys dishing duty. They had to manage their time to wash the dishes before the curfew.
It's so funny watching them do it.

Today I woke up around 5 am. Dada, In and Fah were up at the same time.
I told them to get ready and eat breakfast. I cooked eggs and ham today.
Nobody helps me because it was too early. So sad.
George went to buy more milk. These kids love milk. They drink a lot.

Around 6 am., we woke all the kids up and get them ready for school.
Today they come to experience the small American school in Kiel, Divine Savior School.
We visited this school last year and In met a new friend, Maggie.
We think it's a good thing for the kids to try out the school for a day.

In met her friend from last year, Maggie. I don't know why when In is surround with American kids she is so confidence and speak loudly. That's good for her.

Japan and Dada also had fun with their buddy too. Japan isn't grumpy anymore.
He still wants to carry his backpack and jacket around but when we told him it's OK to leave it.
He believes us. He enjoys the science class a lot.
They're playing with magnet. I notice that Japan loves science.

Win, Didi, June and Carrot are in grade 8. They have a test on the first hour.
The teacher send them to kindergarten class to help put with a little kids.
They have a lot of fun playing with them. Thai students have more confident talking to little one.

Win makes new friends. He likes them so much because they're a little bit crazy.
They're very friendly and play rugby with him.

Didi,June and Carrot didn't make any friends but they like one of Win's friend, Micheal.
By the end of the day, they asked Win to take a photo of Micheal and they ran to hind.
It's so funny. They're really girly.

Win actually asked his friends their Facebook, Instagram but they only have email. Hahaha
I think Thai kids love social media more than Wisconsin's kids.
I heard Win said he wants to study at this school. It's amazing how you get along with somebody within a day.

Fah is too tall. The teacher thinks she is in 7th grade. She was in 7th grade with Pooh.
Pooh did a good job talking to American kids. He doesn't seem to be shy. I don't see Fah talking with American very much. But she didn't try to stick with Thai friends either.

(This is Micheal, the boy that the girls fall in love with)

We ate lunch at the school. It's pancake, ham, eggs, apple sauce and milk.
I think I'm bored with egg. (I cooked eggs in the morning too)

In the afternoon, June Didi Win and Pooh presented their ice-breaker to the younger kids.
They're excited to hear about Bangkok and Thailand. The teachers were surprised about the number of populations in Bangkok. Carrot didn't do any ice-breaker. Bad girl!

George and I waited around at the school all day. It's pretty boring. I fell asleep a couple times.
Around 2:45pm. we went home together. We let the kids relax for a couple hours.
The young girls read a book and play game. The older girls played game and dance.
The boys played game too.

June is leaving tomorrow before the other kids so she has to pack today, make a card and pack gifts for her host family. The other girls also pack stuffs that they won't use this weekend to the big suitcase and leave only clothes for 2 days in their carry on. Now the girl room look less messy.

The girls went crazy.  I think because we give them too much free time.
They started to make shows for us.

(Dada is eating dinner)

After we had dinner at home, we came to Manitowoc to get some ice-cream from a famous shop.
Now we're updating blog in the van because the library is closed.

Tomorrow we will help out in the kitchen for Pancake Breakfast of the church.
There're some games for the kids to play and they're probably meet their friends from school today.
They all go to the same church.
